It’s the beginning of a new dawn for Asia’s travel and tourism. With borders reopening, destinations are getting set to welcome back international travellers. It’s time to unite at this significant moment in time to ensure that the travel rebound is safe and sustained, and that destinations emerge stronger after a highly challenging two years. This special event, organised by WiT and Travel Weekly Asia, will share lessons, ideas and best practices between destinations, as well as address the digitisation of in-destination experiences, the reason why travellers visit places – not just to see and do, but to feel and return.

Brent Anderson is Tourism Australia’s Regional General Manager, South & South East Asia (SSEA&ME). He is responsible for the marketing of Australia in a diverse set of source markets throughout the region, focused upon deriving economic benefits for Australia from inbound tourism.
Brent has over 20 years’ experience promoting Australia to international visitors with a key focus upon developing partnerships with tourism and non-tourism global organisations. With a strong track record of achieving commercial objectives within a governmental organisation, Brent has worked with and learnt from some of the best marketers in Australia and Asia to deliver significant advantage for the Australian tourism industry.
Pre-Covid, the SSEA&ME region was the second largest source region for visitors to Australia and the fastest growing. The SSEA&ME team is one of the most culturally diverse teams within Tourism Australia. Brent is humbled by the dedication to, and love of, Australia’s tourism offering from his team, and how their love of Australia is transferred to target consumers.

Ms Juliana Kua assumed the position of Assistant Chief Executive for the International Group in November 2021. In this role, she oversees an integrated network of regional offices located around the world. Together, they actively promote Singapore as a compelling leisure and business destination.
Prior to this appointment, Juliana was Chief Representative and Executive Director, Greater China. In this capacity, Juliana led the operations of STB in Greater China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), and spearheaded the strategic planning and execution of all marketing and promotional activities within these markets to champion Singapore as an attractive travel destination to both leisure and BTMICE visitors.
Juliana joined the Singapore Tourism Board in 2003, starting out in the Travel Services team followed by concurrent stints in the Investment Promotion and Leisure Planning teams. She was later seconded to CapitaLand and assumed the role of Business Development Manager, with a three-month stint in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. When she returned to STB in 2009, she was promoted to Assistant Director of Integrated Resorts, and was subsequently based in Hong Kong for one year managing special projects. She joined the Cruise team in 2011.
After her second secondment as a Senior Programme Officer with the World Bank Group, she returned to STB in 2014 and was Director, Strategic Planning and Incentive Policy. In this role, she drove STB’s strategy development for Destination Singapore and managed STB’s incentive policy framework and processes. In May 2018, she was appointed as Chief Representative and Regional Director, Greater China.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2002. In the following year, she attained her Master of Science in Tourism from the University of Strathclyde. In 2017, she obtained her Master of Science (Sloan Fellow) from Stanford University, Graduate School of Business.

In 2021, international air travel in APAC was at 7% of 2019 levels. And IATA has projected that air travel in APAC will recover to pre-Covid levels only by 2025, as opposed to the US which should get there by 2023. How will this impact destinations in the region? An overview of the state of aviation in the region as air travel begins.

Vinoop Goel is the Asia-Pacific Regional Director of Airports & External Relations for the International Air Transport Association (IATA). He is based at their Asia-Pacific regional office in Singapore. Vinoop leads a team that is responsible for all IATA’s activities in the Asia-Pacific region relating to Airports, Passenger Experience, Baggage, Ground Handling, Cargo Supply Chain, Security and Facilitation. In addition to this, Vinoop also heads the Member and External Relations department for the region that is responsible for IATA membership and government policy issues such as environment, taxation and aviation regulatory matters. Vinoop has a degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT, Delhi in India. He has 3 decades of aviation industry experience including a 15-year stint in Japan and has been with IATA since 2005.

Mrs. Numfhon Boonyawat is Deputy Governor for Policy and Planning of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. She oversees the organisational policy, overall marketing strategy planning, monitoring and evaluation.
Prior to this, she was the Executive Director of the Planning Department. Her previous positions and responsibilities at TAT have included TAT Director of Marketing Strategy Division, Director of the TAT Sydney Office, and Executive Director of the Human Resources Department.

Arrut Navaraj is Managing Director of Sampran Riverside, an ‘eco-cultural destination’ and well-known conference facility near Bangkok, Thailand. He graduated with a Master Degree in Chemical Engineering from England. However, in his career he has completely shunned the use of chemicals and instead has dedicated himself to organic farming and making food system sustainable.
For the past seven years, he has been working with local farmers, universities, government agencies and private enterprises to promote organic agriculture under the ‘Sampran Model’ a sustainable business model based on fair trade and Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. The successful model has inspired a growing number of new business and community partnerships.

Additionally she oversees the APAC Vertical search team, who help clients adopt our more technical solutions such as Hotel Ads, and work with our Product & Engineering team to build products for our region. Prior to this, Hermione worked in Google’s Sydney office managing major Retail clients.
Before her time at Google, she worked in the TV industry for 4 years, working for 7media West running the Key Accounts team. When she launched her career she started in Creative Advertising working initially for M&C Saatchi and then TBWA in Sydney.
Hermione was educated in Sydney Australia, completing a degree in Economics & Social Sciences from Sydney University and was awarded the Young Citizen of the Year (2009) by the Woollahra Mulinciptilty.
Hermione now lives in Singapore, and has done so for six & a half years. She is a mum to three young children and a Red Kelpie, and is an incredibly passionate traveler.

Prior to his promotion, Weemin was the Executive Director of Sales at Marina Bay Sands and is responsible for Marina Bay Sands’ sales and marketing processes and activities for the various market segments in Association Meetings, Tradeshows and Events both locally and internationally.
In this role, he is responsible for bringing in various first-to-Asia trade shows and exhibitions to Marina Bay Sands. These include iconic events such as Maison & Objet Asia, Lions Club International Convention, Tax Free World Association Asia Pacific and Milipol Asia.
