Since 2008, the programme has raised more than US$800,000 for the betterment of women and children throughout Asia.
It does this by supporting local arts and crafts by engaging with local communities in Asia to produce items and gifts such as lanyards and bags, made with locally-sourced materials, for its conferences.
Its main fund-raising event is a charity auction held as part of WiT Singapore, typically held at the closing reception. Items auctioned include works of art by local artists, travel experiences and mentoring time with travel leaders.
It has supported grassroots social enterprises in Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Japan, Vietnam and Thailand, run by passionate individuals who want to make a difference in their communities.
In 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, it raised S$50,000 for The Island Foundation from its conference which went into hybrid mode for the first time.
In 2021, it raised more than US$50,000 for Phare Ponleu Selpak, the 30-year-old Cambodian NGO that supports arts and youths in Cambodia.
In 2022, it raised more than US$80,000 to support The “Sunshine Project”, Himmapaan Foundation, Thailand and “Feed the Elephants”, Elephant Nature Park, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
In 2023, it will support the Orphaned Starfish Organisation, which builds computer centres to advance digital literacy among youths in developing countries. Since 2014, OSF has helped 16,000 children and built 79 tech centres in 33 countries around the world. It has four centres in Asia – in the Philippines, Cambodia and Nepal.
WiT For Good will support its Asia programme.
